DreamWorks Falls after Earnings Miss

DreamWorks Animation (DWA) fell about 4% after hours after missing analysts’ earnings expectations.

DreamWorks posted29 cents of EPS, 3 cents below expectations. Earnings were 71% below last year’s figures, in part because last year’s numbers were boosted by video sales of “Shrek Forever After”. Revenue of $219 million beat expectations for $210 million.

“The Company’s full year 2012 results are expected to be driven primarily by the performance of Madagascar 3, which is scheduled to be released on June 8, 2012. The Company’s first quarter results are expected to be driven primarily by the international box office performance and domestic home video release of Puss In Boots.”
